2. CCB is an union of environmental NGOs. CCB is the biggest union of associa- tions in the BSR – 21 organizations from 11 countries. CCB was established in 1990. CCB member organizations combined have over 0.8 mln members. CCB’s main goal is to promote the protection and improvement of the Baltic Sea environment and natural resources. CCB’s working areas: HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES AND MARINE LITTER BIODIVERSITY AND NATURE CONSERVATION focused also on aquatic and terrestrial IAS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN COASTAL AND MARINE AREAS HARMFUL INSTALLATIONS AND MARITIME TRANSPORT WATER PROTECTION IN AGRICULTURE RIVER BASIN AND WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE.

4. Experience Providing data and information for the EEA Technical report No 5/2010 Towards an early warning and information system for invasive alien species (IAS) threatening biodiversity in Europe. 8-years’ experience in the field of invasive alien vertebrates in Europe, mainly the American mink, raccoon and raccoon dog. Cooperation and networking focused on IAS. Interest also in aquatic species, mainly round goby, Chinese mitten crab, Orconectes limosus.

5. Contribution to areas of work and aspects of interest Awareness rising (art. 7, 31, 32): -public awareness rising, -targeting agricultural sector. Introduction pathways – prioritisation and action plans (art. 13): -mammalian species of interest to agriculture, -aquatic species, -use of genetic analyses to determine directions and history of invasion (Polish scientific network of conservation genetics led by the Polish Society for Conservation Genetics LUTREOLA).

7. Management of widely spread IAS (art. 17, 19, 20): -carnivorous mammalian species, -development and sharing of information on best practices, -ethical issues (justified scope of interference. Surveillance systems (art. 14): -development of cross-border, regional and macro- regional cooperation (eg S-Rapp). National information systems on IAS (art. 25). Guidelines and training materials on IAS (art. 14): -possibility to utilize the CCB network. Special interest in collaboration in carring out risk assessment and development of the Union list of IAS (art. 4, 5).
