5. Air Pressure The weight of air pushing on the earth’s atmosphere
A barometer is a tool used to measure air pressure
Think:
Barbell= weightlifting
Bar= weight of air

6. Wind The movement of air from an area of high pressure to low pressure
Anemometer used to measure the wind speed
Think: Ants= move fast
Anemometer= how fast wind is moving

7. Wind Vane A tool used to measure the DIRECTION of the wind
The arrow points in the direction from which the wind is blowing

8. Wind Sock
A wind sock is used to indicate wind direction and relative wind speed.
They are typically used at airports and at
chemical plants where there is a risk of gas
leakage, or along a windy highway.
Wind direction is the opposite direction that the
sock is pointing. ex) A sock pointing straight north
indicates a south wind.

Rain gauge used to measure the amount of rainfall

10. HUMIDITY Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air.
Hygrometer is used to measure humidity
