11/12 Do Now: Reflection on Toothpickase
If the room will filled with toothpicks could the rate increase? Would it take longer to break a toothpick if it was across the room? Would it take longer to break toothpicks if FLAT ones were mixed in and you were supposed to break the round ones? What would happen to the amount of time required if two people were breaking at the same time?

LESSON Finish Toothpickase Analyze data, Graph it, complete reflection
T-4 Enzyme Activity Lab
3
Pre-lab questions How many subunits does the toothpickase enzyme have?
What is the quaternary structure of your enzyme? Where is your active site? What are the products of the reaction of toothpickase with its substrate?

Analysis of Data T2 – T1 M = number of toothpicks metabolized T = time
Make a line graph of the number of toothpicks metabolized over time in seconds. Is the rate of reaction the same over the entire reaction? For each interval of time calculate the rate of reaction of the toothpickase enzyme using the formula for the slope of the line graphed above M2 – M1 T2 – T1 M = number of toothpicks metabolized T = time At what point did you have the greatest rate of toothpicks metabolized?
