3 CREATING A PAPER CIRCUIT In your IAN, we will create an electric circuit so you can practice with how to open and close the circuit on your own. Watch How! https://youtu.be/BwKQ9Idq9FMhttps://youtu.be/BwKQ9Idq9FM Follow the directions on the next few slides to build your Paper Circuit.

4 STEP 1: To create a paper circuit, draw a circuit pattern on paper. On one side draw the picture of a battery. On the other side draw a picture of an LED light. Make sure to mark the + and – terminals.

5 STEP 2: Get a piece of aluminum foil and roll or crush it into 2 thin “wires” the length of both sides of your paper circuit. STEP 3: Place the aluminum on top of your circuit lines in the notebook. When you are attaching the aluminum foil to the paper, do not cut it. Instead, fold or mold the corner around the circuit line drawn on your paper and continue to apply the aluminum foil. Cutting the strips reduces the flow of energy.

6 Step 4: Tape the foil down with masking tape. Be sure to cover the aluminum in the circuit completely EXCEPT for the ends where the battery and lights will connect.

7 Step 5: Write on the side or under your circuit the following notes: This is an example of an ELECTRIC CIRCUIT. This is a loop of a conducting material that allows electrons to flow freely in a particular direction, creating an electric current that will light a bulb.

8 STEP 6: You are all finished! Your circuit will not look exactly like this one because you are using different materials, but when it is connected to a battery, it should light up a small LED light! Get a LED light and battery from your teacher and TRY IT OUT!
