2 Entry Task: Reflect on your reading What difficulties/questions do you have about your reading? What theme are you primarily focusing on with your journals?

3 Entry Task: Pick up a copy of the cold essay prompts Take 5 minutes to read the prompts. Pick 2 prompts that will work with your novel. Discuss your choices with your elbow partner. (5 minutes) Group discussion (10 minutes) Small novel group discussion (20 minutes)

Students will read and comprehend literature including drama Students will analyze the impact of the author’s choices regarding how to develop and relate elements of a drama

6 Analysis of Theme The Kite Runner contains several important themes. Explain one of the themes that appears in the book and use specific examples from the book to support your statements. Make sure your paragraph includes a strong topic sentence, analysis of the topic, and support from the book. Since you are writing about literature, please write in present tense. You may use your novels and your journals for this assignment. You will have only 25 minutes. I will be grading you on content as well as structure. Worth 30 points
