Interpreting Circle Graphs

Dinnertime is a busy time for families. Some families eat at home, at restaurants, at the home of a relative, or they have dinner delivered to their homes. 10 5 20 15 Relative’s House Restaurant Home Cooked Delivery

How did you determine how many families were surveyed? Add the number of families in each part of the circle graph. 5 + 10 + 15 +20 = 50

How did you find the percent of families surveyed eat home cooked meals? Since percent means per hundred, I created an equivalent fraction with 100 as the denominator. 402 2 40% 20 50 x = 100

Students will be able to use a spreadsheet program to graph and analyze data in order to interpret circle graphs.

50 40 10 40% 1 1 ? 40 100 x = 40 10% 1 1 ? 10 100 x = 10

20 15 10 5 40% 2 2 ? 20 50 x = 100 40 20% 2 2 ? 10 50 x = 100 20 30% 2 2 ? 15 50 x = 100 30
