Brief  I have been asked to pitch an idea for an animated short film which will be showcased at an exhibition of children's drawings and paintings entitled 'Through Children's Eyes: The Holocaust Paintings from Terezin'.  An animated short film has been commissioned for screening at the opening of the exhibition which in some way deals with the story of Terezin. Short History Of Terezin  Terezin was a Nazi concentration camp in the Czech Republic that was in use during the Third Reich in World War 2  Over 150,000 prisoners were held at the camp before being sent to Treblinka or Auschwitz via train, Most never survived the destination  Although it wasn’t a death camp, roughly 33,000 people died due to the living conditions and breakouts of plague’s and illness  There was as much as 55,000 prisoners within the camp at one time, 15,000 of which being children  88,000 people were deported to Auschwitz leaving few survivors  Of the 15,000 children only 1500 survived the camp Rhuraidh Garness - 07001274 - Advanced 3D Animation Techniques 3

My Idea  I plan to model the majority of the camp within 3ds Max to give a visual representation of the scale, as well as draw emphasis to some of the conditions of living.  I will showcase information about the camp as the animation progresses.  I want to follow the journey of the prisoners up until they depart via train to their final destination, be it Auschwitz or Treblinka  I chose to do this idea to add variety to the animations on show, most of which will be focused on the children's artwork salvaged from the camp  The animation will aim to be as informative and accurate as possible Rhuraidh Garness - 07001274 - Advanced 3D Animation Techniques 4
