3. Government Announcement Remodel Vetting and Barring – Proportionate – Common sense levels Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) registration stage will not be launched 26 July 2010 Full details still to be finalised

4. Business as Normal Business as normal for Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Existing requirements for CRB remain and those entitled can still apply Purple forms from CBR will still be launched on 26 th July The regulations introduced in October 2009 still apply

5. Regulations October 2009 A person who is barred from working with children or vulnerable adults will be breaking the law if they work or volunteer, or try to work or volunteer with those groups. An organisation which knowingly employs someone who is barred to work with those groups will also be breaking the law.

6. Cont’d If your organisation works with children or vulnerable adults and you dismiss a member of staff or a volunteer because they have harmed a child or vulnerable adult, or you would have done so if they had not left, you must tell the Independent Safeguarding Authority.

7. Who Is Responsible? Home Office responsible for delivering the scheme in partnership with Department of Health, Schools and Families. It does not remove the need for employers to have robust recruitment, involving interviews and references

8. LCC Contracts and Quality Monitoring Officers will continue to check recent recruitment processes They will check that CRB’s have been undertaken across a range of staff Will review our processes in light of the new vetting and barring scheme when announced
