Webcasting is a live event 2 primary types of webcasting: Unicast – 1 stream per viewer: higher bandwidth usage Multicast – 1 stream for multiple viewers: Lower bandwidth usage Most agencies not multicast enabled yet Need to monitor bandwidth: TESTING Use of projected webcast to groups of people Video On Demand (VOD) archived and available 24/7

10 Preparing for a webcast Meet with DIS staff to plan the event and determine which type of webcast would best meet your needs and your budget. Pre-test with your agency to ensure success Involve your technology people

11 Making a webcast work Determining the right media for your audience Get the word out to your staff and encourage them to participate Have it re-purposed to DVD, CD, or Video on Demand for internal training sessions and convenience for all employees
