Conclusion The conclusion wraps up your experiment. It includes the answer to your question but also provides you with a chance to share how the experiment went and how it could be improved or used in the future. 3 parts: – Hypothesis reflection – Areas of improvement – Application section OR Question section

Conclusion Format A hypothesis reflection that tells whether the hypotheses was correct or incorrect and why (3-4 sentences) Areas of improvement for future experiments (6-8 sentences) An application section that tells how the results of the experiment can be used in real life OR a question section that discusses a new question or discovery that emerged from the experiment (2-3 sentences)

A hypothesis reflection that tells whether the hypotheses was correct or incorrect and why (3-4 sentences) Our group hypothesized that if the type of activity a person changes, then a person’s heart rate would change. Our hypothesis is correct, because a person’s heart rate was different for each different type of activity they did in the experiment. When a person did an activity that was more strenuous, such as running, the heart rate increased. When a person did an activity that was less strenuous, such as yoga, the heart rate decreased.

Areas of improvement for future experiments (6-8 sentences) If this experiment was repeated in the future, we would make some adjustments to improve its accuracy. When conducting the experiment, we did not leave enough time for the volunteer’s heart rate to go back to normal. This may have caused some errors in the data, because the starting heart rate was not always the same. Also, when conducting the running and walking trials, we did not use the same location. One location had a flat road, and the other location had more hills. This could have changed the data as well, because the hilly location could have increased the volunteer’s heart rate. In the future, we would make sure that the resting heart rate and activity locations stay the same.

An application section that tells how the results of the experiment can be used in real life (2-3 sentences) The results of our experiment can be used in real life, because this information can be useful to someone who is trying to be healthier. If a person wants to lose weight at a faster rate, they should run, as this activity increases your heart rate and oxygen flow more than the other activities. OR

A question section that discusses a new question or discovery that emerged from the experiment (2-3 sentences) This experiment caused us to wonder how the type of activity affects the heart rate of healthy versus unhealthy person. An idea for a future experiment is to try the activities with a person who exercises often and a person who never exercises to see if there are any differences in the data.
