Daily focus on 6 of 18 governorates –Southern six; central six; northern six –Each set repeated twice a week 3. Sectoral inputs Six updates a week – Friday: no briefings

12 10 MAY 03 12 Governance POCs: GST needed on site DART: Dr. Eric Rasmussen; Cell: (965) 986-1740; ericrasmussen@carebridge.org United Nations elements POCs: NGO Community Leads: Information as of: 10 May 2003 An Najaf  Pre-war bulk food stores nearly gone  Water up to pre-war standards  Combined US/Iraqi police patrols and traffic control points  All 5 hospitals operational, accepting patients An Najaf: Sanitation  Sewage system at pre-war levels  Can only handle about 20% of city needs  Complete overhaul / rebuild of plant required  Only one of 16 sanitation department garbage trucks running – US military has purchased batteries to get all going  8 new front-end loaders looted down to chassis – costly repairs ($5000 USD) required

17 10 MAY 03 17 ORHA Humanitarian Assistance DART Team visited former Saddam City –Infrastructure and services poor –Population generally welcomed team Humanitarian Mine Action personnel in Dahuk – overall assessment positive Fuel shortages and currency crisis reducing operational capabilities DART Team will visit Basrah to assess extent of possible cholera outbreak; need for rehydration kits
