6 What is Data Storage? Definition: “Data Storage is where we put data in a ‘known’ place (Save) which we can come back to later and get the data back again (Read)”. Writing / Saving Data = Storing Data. Reading / Opening Data = Getting our data back again from the storage location.

17 Task 1 Overview You are going to create a multi-paged A3 landscape poster (in Microsoft Publisher) documenting information about storage devices. This instruction sheet will be split up into 2 tasks with task 1 starting today. Read each task carefully and design your poster to the criteria provided for you.

18 Task 1 Create page 1 of your poster. Page 1 should: 1.Include the title “Storage Devices and Media”. Sub-Titles can be added as needed. 2.Summarise the information found on the “Backing up Data and Types of Access” lesson PowerPoint. Pay attention to include information on: Reasons why we should back up our data Serial Data Access Direct Data Access Make use of images and colour to make the poster attractive. Images can be found by yourself but the picture examples of how serial and direct access devices work provided on the lesson PowerPoint will be especially useful.
