Consider that each college-level essay paragraph is about 1/2 page. THEREFORE, NINE (9) paragraphs = at least 4 pages…

Organization Pattern #1: Problem/ Solution. 1 st - Define the problem(s). Prove that they exist and are significant (Harms). Show that problems will not go away by themselves (Inherency). This may be the first few pages of your essay and will include A LOT of evidence. 2 nd - Explain your solution (Solvency). Show how it will solve the majority of the problems. Don’t get too specific ( administration, funding, etc.) unless it is necessary to prove your point. You may use logic and observation as evidence, but you may also use expert testimony and other research here as well. 3 rd - Include a refutation at the end of your paper. Explain the MAJOR arguments against you and REFUTE THOSE ARGUMENTS!!! Explain why they are not significant/important/valid.

Problem – Solution Essay: Consider the order of your Harms…rearrange? Would you Solvency be better BEFORE the plan?

Organization #2: Argumentative Research Paper: Choose this if you do not want to focus on the solution much or at all, but merely want to prove that a problem exists. 1 st - Explain the problems. Prove that they exist and are significant (Harms & Inherency). This will be the majority of your essay (at least ¾) and will include A LOT of evidence. 2 nd - Include a refutation at the end of your paper. Explain the MAJOR arguments against your position and REFUTE THOSE ARGUMENTS!!! Explain why they are not significant/important/valid.

Argumentative Research Essay: This is JUST an idea; you may organize the paper in the way that makes sense for your topic.
