2 Risk Zone A Protocols Extra precautions for workstations within Zone A collections DO NOT introduce fresh material such as fresh plants, cut flowers or identification material and new accessions to area without IPM treatment DO NOT open perimeter windows (use alterative environmental conditioning methods such as air coolers and fans) KEEP work area tidy as special cleaning protocols apply KEEP all vulnerable collection material in over night collection storage KEEP all stored packaging and disposed materials in sealed containers TRANSPORT consumables in sealed containers

4 Keeping Rodents out Keep outside doors closed Ensure rodent proofing is maintained

5 Don’t Feed the mice! We use poison bait to control mice BUT this only works if we stop feeding them with human food Keep food waste covered and remove it every day Keep food in rodent proof containers Never eat or drink in collections areas Do not eat at your desk if there is a mess room

6 Rodents: Monitoring and Reporting Report any sightings or fresh droppings to the Help Desk: ext. 5178 Report defects in the Building which may allow mice ingress

7 Cleaning Keep everything as clean and tidy as possible. Standardised cleaning protocols are being written for the Museum. Observe cleaning protocols and let us know if it is not being done properly.

9 Monitor and Report Report any signs of pests to your Departmental Representative

10 Success lies with you! Be aware of the Risk Zone you are in and act accordingly. Store boxes or postal boxes held temporarily within workspaces must be placed in sealed plastic bags. Keep your work areas clean and tidy. Eat only in designated areas, never near collections. Quarantine – don’t bring untreated material into the collections (including furniture, stores & field equipment!) No pot plants or flowers in collections areas. No live cultures anywhere without express permission. Remove wool felt and cotton wool from collections. Monitor and Report!
