Goal oriented—Explicit goals evaluate the patient's progress and treatment outcome. Practical—Focus is on solving current problems of living. Collaborative—Collaboration with the patient is emphasized. Open—The therapeutic process is open and explicit. Homework—Homework assignments are given often. Measurements—Measurements are taken at baseline, during treatment, and at the end of treatment. Active—The therapist serves as a teacher and coach, while the patient practices the strategies learned in therapy. Short term—Therapy usually lasts 6 to 20 sessions.
