2 FACTS  Cheerleading is over 100 years old. On November 2, 1898, Johnny Campbell lead the first cheerleaders at an University of Minnesota football game.  In the beginning all Cheerleaders were men.  12% of Cheerleaders are aged 5 to 13 years and 12% are dancers.  There are at least four million Cheerleaders in thirty-one countries.

5 WHAT YOU NEED: Pom Poms Uniforms A Bow Horns

6 COMPETITION RULES  TIME: Routine maximum time limit is two and a half (2.5) minutes. Timing begins on the first beat of music, voices in unison, or choreographed movement, after your team is announced on the floor  BEGINNING OF ROUTINE: Routine must begin within the approx. 40' x 40' performance area.You will be allowed to set up poms & signs prior to your start. You may not begin your routine in a pyramid or stunt.

7 COMPETITION RULES CONT’D  PROPS: Signs, megaphones, and poms are the only props that are allowed. Mini-tramps are not allowed. All signs must evoke a crowd response using words.  BACKUP SPOTTERS: Members of your competing squad must fulfil all spotting requirements as listed in these guidelines.  POINT DEDUCTIONS: A penalty will be deducted from your final score for each rule infraction. The amount of the penalty depends on the severity of the infraction.  ENDING OF ROUTINE: Timing will stop when your squad comes to a complete final stationary position or final beat of music. Failing to make the end of your routine clear may result in additional time being deducted
