2 Joints are when two or more bones meet.

3 The names of the joints are :  Pivot joint  Ball and socket joint  Saddle joint  Hinge joint

4  A saddle joint allows a bone to slide in two directions –back and forth, as well as side to side. An example of such joints is the thumb joints.

5  A ball and socket joint allows movement in many directions including back and forth, side to side and circular movements. Some examples of such joints are the hip joints and shoulder joints.

6  A hinge joint works like a door hinge. It allows back and forth movements. Some examples of such joints are the knee joints, elbow joints, finger joints and toe joints.

7  A pivot joint is a joint which allows the rotation of a bone about another. An example of such joints is the neck joints.
