9.  Pivot Joint: This type of joint allows bones to spin and twist around other bones. One example of a pivot joint is the neck. As shown in the picture the atlas (C1) sits on top of the Axis (C2) and is able to spin, thus allowing the head to turn side to side.

10.  Hinge Joint: This type of joint allows for movement much like that of a door hinge. The knee and elbow are two examples of a hinge joints. They are able to move anterior and posterior (flexion or extension) but not medially and laterally (adduction abduction)

11.  Multiple Articulation Joints: These joints, such as the ankle, are made up of multiple joints. The ankle joint combines the hinge joint pivot joint, and glidding joints all in one. This is why our ankles have such an extended range of motion; flexion, extension, rotation adduction, and abduction.

12.  ellipsoid joint : a synovial joint in which a condyle is received into an elliptic cavity, such as the wrist or finger joint. A condyloid joint permits no axial rotation but allows flexion, extension, adduction, abduction, and circumduction. Also called condyloid joint.

13.  Ball and Socket Joint: This type of joint allows for a widest range of motion in the body. The Shoulder and hip are ball and socket joints. This also means that they are more susceptible to injury than most other joints.
