2 Kronos was the father of all gods. He killed his own father, Ouranos, to take his throne. When Ouranos was dying he said, “You murder me now, and steal my throne – but one of your sons will dethrone you, for crime begets crime.” From then one Kronos ate every one of his children, the Gods and Goddesses.

3 Rhea was Kronos wife/sister. Rhea was the goddess of Earth. She was furious when Kronos swallowed all of their children. That is when she kept a hidden baby whose name was Zeus. Zeus grew up to be a beautiful young boy. Kronos knew nothing about him.

4 Zeus grew up on a shepherd's farm with a promise from Rhea that wolves would not eat their sheep Eventually Rhea grew lonely and brought Zeus back. When she brought him back they made a drink for Kronos. In the drink they put mustard and salt with the nectar. It made Kronos throw up all the baby Gods and Goddesses.

5 Kronos was furious that Zeus had tricked him. A mighty battle raged. Kronos called the Titans, his half-brothers. Zeus had allies too, the hundred-hand ones, and the Cyclops. The earth quaked and tidal waves rolled as the battle went on. Halfway up the mountain Zeus had planned a trap. The hundred-hand ones threw down boulders at the Titans, and they felt as the mountain was falling down on them. From then on the gods chose Zeus to be their king.
