The Master Teacher Christ

Christ knew how to help his followers (students) understand what he was trying to teach them through real-life examples that they could apply in their lives. These examples are known as parables, and they can have different meanings to different people. “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?” Luke 14:4 (Christ teaching on missionary work, love, or activation) Application

Content Christ knew that his content (the scriptures) were important in helping his followers learn. Not only did he know this, but he had a love for his content. “And now, whoso readeth, let him understand; he that hath the scriptures, let him search them,” 3 Nephi 10:14

Love Christ had a deep love not just for his followers and those he taught, but also those who mocked him. “I have charity for the Jew… I also have charity for the Gentiles.” 2 Nephi 33:7-9 “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another ; as I have loved you.” John 13:34

EXAMPLE Christ gave his followers the best example to pattern their lives after- himself. All teachers should live their lives in a way to inspire their students “Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect.” 3 Nephi 12:48

Service The Savior’s life is filled with acts of service for others. Teachers should be selfless people, constantly trying to help and serve to their students needs. Christ was the perfect example of this. “The Savior, in traveling toward Jerusalem, passed through Galilee and Samaria and entered a certain village where He was met on the outskirts by 10 lepers who were forced, because of their condition, to live apart from others. They stood “afar off” and cried, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” The Savior, full of sympathy and love for them, said, “Go shew yourselves unto the priests,” and as they went they discovered that they were healed. The scriptures tell us, “One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at [the Master’s] feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.” - https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2002/04/pathways-to- perfection?lang=eng- https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2002/04/pathways-to- perfection?lang=eng

Empathy Christ felt for his followers- he truly cared about their trials and tribulations. Students will care about learning more as they come to trust that their teacher truly cares for them. “ And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” –Revelation 21:4 http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Bible-Verses-About-Being- Happy/http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Bible-Verses-About-Being- Happy/
