Desperate People The Healing of the Samaritan Leper Luke 17:11–19 (NASB)

Luke 17:11–19 (NASB) While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee. As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him; and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed.

Luke 17:11–19 (NASB) Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they? “Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Stand up and go.” Your faith has made you well (whole, well, “saved you”).

The Ten Lepers 1.“Ten leprous men” – Jesus was sent to the unloved, the unwanted, and the outcast 2.“They stood at a distance” –The law required the segregation of lepers 3.“Go show yourself to the priest”: physically clean vs. spiritually clean. 4.“As they were going, they were cleansed”: The desperate obey God’s commands before they see any result

The Ten Lepers 5.“When He saw that he had Been healed” –What is the level of your expectation? Are you now doing what He commands you to do? 6.“He turned back and praised Him with a loud voice” –Desperate people who have received a miracle make great worshipers.

The Ten Lepers 7.“Your faith has made you well” –Miracles are for the helpless and the hopeless In order that they may know Christ!

How do you become a person of great faith? By risking shame in coming to Him; By asking him for mercy; By receiving the Word of God; By obeying before seeing; By thanking Him and praising Him with all your heart.
