[L01-1] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) FUTURISTIC WIRELESS COMMUNICATION EVOLUTION TOWARDS 4G Submitted by:- Meena Panda CS200163373 Under the guidance of Mr.Anisur Rahman

[L01-2] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) WIRELESS COMMUNICATION Wireless data networks use radio or infrared transmission and reception for computer communication. These are different from traditional data networks.Wireless networks are slower than current wireline networks, and the disparity in speed makes it difficult to design software that will operate well in either environment.

[L01-3] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) MOBILE COMMUNICATION Wireless mobile systems introduces a new dimension to traditional distributed systems, which is untethered networking and unrestricted mobility. However, this exciting new technology comes with the price of higher security vulnerability.

[L01-4] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) 4G 4G is the short term for fourth-generation wireless, the stage of broadband mobile communications that will follow the still-burgeoning third generation (3G) that is expected to reach maturity between 2003-2005. 4G services are expected to be introduced first in Japan, as early as 2006 - four years ahead of the previous target date.

[L01-5] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) WHAT IS 4G 4G takes on a number of equally true definitions. In Simplest terms 4G is the next generation of wireless networks that will replace 3G network sometimes in future.4G is simply an initiative by academics R&D labs to move beyond the limitations and problems of 3G which is having trouble getting deployed and meeting its promised performance and throughput

[L01-6] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) WHY WE NEED 4G 3G Performance may not be sufficient to meet needs of future high performance like multi-media,fullmotion video and teleconferencing. Multiple standards for 3G makes it difficult to roam and interoperate across network. 4G gives wider bandwidth. 4G has efficient modulation scheme than 3G. o

[L01-7] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) COMPARING 4G WITH 3G 3G (including 2.5G, sub3G) 4G Network Arch. Wide area cell-based Hybrid -Integration Wireless LAN and wide area Speeds 384 Kbps to 2 Mbps 20 to 100 Mbps Frequency Band (1800-2400 MHz) Higher frequency bands (2-8GHz )

[L01-8] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) 3G (including 2.5G, sub3G) 4G Bandwidth 5-20MHz 100MHz Switching Design Circuit and Packet All digital with Basis Packetized Voice

[L01-9] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) WHAT IS NEEDED TO BUILD 4G NETWORK OF FUTURE A number of spectrum allocation decisions, technology innovations, component development, signal processing and switching enhancements and inter-vendor cooperation has to take place before the vision of 4G will materialize Lower price points only slightly higher than alternatives- business

[L01-10] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) More Coordination Among Spectrum Regulators More Academic Research Standardization of Wireless networks A Voice independent Buisness Justification Thinking Integration Across Different Network topologies Non distributive implementation

[L01-11] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) LATEST 4G WIRELESS NEWS The sp eed will be 100 times faster than 3G. A wireless technology that could actually could actually arrive earlier than predefine 4G cellular services, intended to provide mobile data at rate of 100Mbp/s.

[L01-12] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) WIRELESS CARRIERS (MobileVillage) -- Number portability is propelling wireless carriers into the role of primary communications provider at a breakneck pace. Preparing to answer the call, carriers are quickly shifting their focus from price to quality and customer service “The network’s power and proximity to the customer may give wireless carriers the advantage over outside content providers and application developers”.

[L01-13] NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Technical Seminar Presentation - 2004 Presented by :: Meena Panda (CS200163373) CONCLUSION 4G Wireless Communication will be more faster, efficient and reliable than 3G and 2.5G computers in all aspects. Futuristic wireless communication set to revolutionise mobile telecommunications by further enabling mobile Internet services and opportunities for operators to offer differentiated packages and tariffs. They are intended to provide data rates at the speed of 100Mbits/sec or more.
