Final project for Ancient History grade 6 Mr. Gapusan

2 Ancient Civilizations We’ve Studied (Choose 2 out of 8)
Early Humans (Stone Ages & Early Cultures) Mesopotamia (Sumer, Babylon, Hittites, Kassites, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Phoenicia) Egypt & Kush (Old, Middle, & New Kingdoms) India (Harrapan, Mohenjo Daro, Hinduism, Buddhism, Mauryan Empire, Gupta Empire) China (Shang, Zhou, Qin, and Han dynasties) Hebrews (Early Hebrews, beliefs & texts) Greece (democracy, various city-states, Alexander the Great) Romans (Roman Republic, Roman Empire)

3 Research & report Each topic from the P.E.R.S.I.A. should be one slide/page per topic; headline/title should be key word Each page should be 2-4 paragraphs (depending on topic & amount of information; the more, the better) Text should be in “kid-speak” using student’s words Work efficiently; organize your time Always SAVE your work as you work on computer; save to your own flash drive and save a copy at home DON’T PROCRASTINATE (putting things off until last-minute)

4 Political- Who’s in charge?
Who has the power? Explain the different examples of leadership and how it’s changed throughout history How is this determined? Describe how it’s changed throughout the civilizations existence Who ensures rules are followed? Identify who are the enforcers of the rules and what happens when rules are broken/not followed

5 Economic – How did the survive?
How shall we eat? Explain w/ examples Where will we find shelter (live)? Describe the houses How do the people move themselves and goods? Provide examples of transportation Do the people use tools? Describe the tools they use and how they use them What is the level of their technology? Explain how they’ve evolved/changed over time Are goods bartered or is there a form of money? Provide examples of currency/trade

6 Religious – What was their belief systems?
Where did they believe they came from? Describe the different belief systems What do they believe happens when they die? Provide examples of their beliefs Who do they believe in? Identify the god(s) and/or goddess(es) What are people’s attitudes towards the unknown? How do they explain what they don’t understand What are some examples of religious practices? Examples of religious customs? Other?

7 Social – How was their society organized ?
How do people relate to each other? Include social hierarchal charts/levels What types of family groups are there? Describe the types of family situations that exist What roles do various family members play? Describe the roles of men, women, and children What kinds of rights do citizens have? Identify what they can and can’t do in society

8 Intelligence – How did they learn?
How do our children learn? Describe examples of how they teach and who is able to learn What kinds of schools exist? Explain the process of education and where they go to learn How long must each child go to school? Include examples of types of schools

9 Artistic – How did they express themselves?
What kinds of art do the people create? Identify different ways of creative expression What is their music like? Identify types of instruments and songs they use What are their books/stories about? Describe the types of things they like to write about What other art forms are important (i.e. dance, cuisine/food, grooming/clothing, jewelry, etc.?

10 Visuals & graphics Include visual aids and pictures of the civilizations. Obtain via the internet, textbook, library, etc. Must be relevant to ancient history Must include 6-10 visuals/pictures for each civilization Visuals can be included on text page or on it’s own slide/page Can include video clips to help support topic Be prepared to provide source of information

11 Power Point/Prezi vs. Poster
If you plan on doing a computerized report, you should already know how to create a Power Point or Prezi; I will not be able to teach you how to create If you’re doing a Poster, then I’ll explain how to set up and supply the poster paper. You should be able to print out all your work on your own (will NOT print out any work in class) If working with a partner, please make the decision about which format you’ll be completing. ALWAYS SAVE YOUR WORK ON FLASH DRIVE!!!

12 Presentation & Due Date
Can work with ONE other person; both are responsible for all the work; receives the same grade/evaluation. Any problems/concerns must be handled by you. Complete ONE presentation for the group Group presentations must choose 3 civilizations! If working alone, must complete everything on your own; plan accordingly Project worth 200 points Due ___________________!!!
