2 GROWING UP…  Born February 26,1932 in Arkansas  4 years old knew he wanted to sing on the radio  Supportive mother musically  3 rd voice lesson he was instructed to do it his way

3 FIGURING THINGS OUT…  1950 graduated high school and joined the Air force  1954 moved to Memphis to aggressively chase a record deal  Sun Records signed him after much effort on Johnny’s part

4  “Cry, Cry, Cry” - #14  “Folsom Prison Blues” -#10  “I Walk the Line” –Sold 2 million copies. MAKING A MARK…

5 THE MAN IN BLACK…  “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash.”  1958 switched to Columbia Records  “Ring of Fire”  Performances in black earned him the title…

6 UH-OH, HERE COMES TROUBLE…  Overwhelming success  Drugs and Alcohol  Missing shows

7  Johnny credits June and her God for saving his life  1967 he was sober and clean  1968 Johnny and June were married NOW HERE COMES JUNE…

8 RECOGNITION…  1995 inducted into BOTH, Country Music and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame  1997 Grammy Best Country Album  2003 Grammy for cover “Hurt”
