1 Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

2 Steinbeck the Man Born on February 27, 1902 in Salinas, California.
Attended Stanford, but did not graduate. Steinbeck worked during his summers as a hired hand in nearby ranches. 1936 Of Mice and Men published.

3 Personal Beliefs in his writings
All of his novels deal with a personal experience. He advocated the need for humans and nature to be in partnership. His characters are the outcasts of society: poor, demented, uneducated and rebellious.

4 The setting in Of Mice and Men
The novel is set in the farmland of the Salinas valley. The ranch in the novel is near Soledad. The countryside described at the beginning of the novel, and the ranch itself is based on Steinbeck’s own experiences.
