Doctoral Coordinators: Rejecting an Application ADMIT

Rejecting an Application NOTE: unlike Admitting or Waitlisting an application, Rejected applications do not need Vice Dean’s approval or review. A coordinator may choose to reject an application before moving the application to the Faculty Review or Committee Review pools for reviews. This may occur because the coordinator deems the application to be of extremely low likelihood to be an accept or waitlist decision, the coordinator got feedback outside of Admit on the applicant (i.e. received faculty feedback). Regardless of the reason, there are several ways to Reject an Application in Admit, which can be done from any of the pools.

Rejecting an Application Tag 1.From the Application tab, check an applicant’s name(s) – if you want to select more than one at a time, select Tag from the Action dropdown menu. 2.Check the DENY tag and click TAG 3.The application(s) will automatically remove from the pool and be sent to the Deny pool and to the Doctoral Office 4.The Coordinator Decision field will update to Deny

Rejecting an Application Coordinator Decision 1.To deny an individual applicant, double click the applicant’s name from the Application’s tab, which will bring you into the applicant’s file 2.On the right-hand side you will see the Coordinator box 3.From the Coordinator Decision dropdown select DENY 4.Click the SAVE button 5.The application(s) will automatically remove from the pool and be sent to the Deny pool and to the Doctoral Office 6.The Coordinator Decision field will update to Deny

Rejecting an Application Drag 1.From the Application tab, check an applicant’s name(s) – if you want to select more than one at a time 2.You can now drag the applicant(s) to the Deny pool 3.NOTE: The application(s) will also REMAIN in the current pool. To remove the application from the pool in which you are working, use the Remove action from the Action dropdown. 4.The Doctoral office will be notified that the application has been denied 5.The Coordinator Decision field will update to Deny Notes about rejecting an applicant 1.Once an applicant is tagged, dragged or given a Coordinator Decision of Deny, the Doctoral Programs office will be notified. 2.The Doctoral Programs office will send out deny letters each Friday. 3.In the case that you would like to change the deny decision, please notify the Doctoral Programs office before Friday.
