Human Excretory Organs…yee ha! 1. Skin (this is from a website that really sells “skin” bags! Okay..they are synthetic though!) 2. Kidney 3. Sweat Glands 4. Liver 6. Lungs 5. Urinary Bladder

The Sweat Gland How much more fun could we have?? 1. Sweat Gland 2. Blood Vessels 3. Pore 4. Capillaries

The Urinary Tract 1. Kidney: made of millions of Nephrons 4. Ureter 5. Urinary Bladder 6. Urethra 2. Artery: carries blood to the kidneys to be filtered 3. Vein: returns clean blood to the heart

The Nephron 1. 2. 3.Capillaries

Excretory Disorders

Excretory Disorders: Water Intoxication Water intoxication results from a disturbance in the normal electrolyte balance (particularly sodium levels) in the blood from drinking too much water. It can cause a dangerous swelling of the brain and central nervous system which can prove fatal. The kidneys cannot filter large amounts of excess water fast enough. Click on picture for News Clip!

Excretory Disorders: Kidney Disease Can result from mild infections to chronic, congenital disease. Signs are anemia, nocturnal frequency, hypertension and protein in the urine. Polycystic kidney

KRAMER: I got a stone. JERRY: What stone? KRAMER: A kidney stone. JERRY: What is that, anyway? KRAMER: It's a, it's a stony mineral concretion, formed abnormally in the kidney. And this jagged shard of calcium pushes its way through the ureter into the bladder. It's forced out through the urine! JERRY: Oh, that's gotta hurt. Kidney Stones

Excretory Disorders: Gout
