9 What Can Happen/What Can Go Wrong  Early warning signs/symptoms  Tendency to avoid conflict o Protect relationships o Protect feelings  Avoid the temptation to be passive aggressive.

10 Need a Solution that Identifies Issues and Avoids Blame and Emotions  Resolution  The sooner the better  Avoid blame  Take ownership of your half of the issue  Have and escalation plan o Exercise the plan early and often

11  Components (Checks and Balances)  Scope of Work - Project Charter  Different phases have different needs. o Preliminary Design o Detailed Design (50%) o Detailed Design (90%) o Bid Documents o Pre-Construction o During Construction o Start Up o Acceptance and Post Project DRAFT PLAN

12  When issues occur: o Early identification allows for early correction o Every project has a learning curve  When staff and managers transition o Have a document o Review the document o Lessons learned-Engineers  Always seek feedback o At multiple levels/from multiple sources o Respond to feedback DRAFT PLAN-CONT.
