1 Sports (Rugby and Rowing) Research Dylan – Rugby Oli - Rowing

2 Rugby Rugby is an 15 man sided game where two teams face each others for a period of 90 mins. As the levels in rugby go up it gets harder and harder so the training becomes tougher. Scoring in the consists of 5 points for a try, 2 points for a successful conversion and 3 points for a successful penalty.

3 Rowing Rowing can be an individual sport, or a team one. With a max limit of 8 people per boat. It tends to be a straight lined race and it is the first who reaches the end point that wins. Training for rowing has been known to be the toughest of all sports as it consists of continuous fitness and dietary needs.

4 Key Facts Dylan – plays rugby for London Wasps and is currently doing a sports NBQ at college. He follows the AASE program and also has set dietary and training plans Oli – Rows for Leander rowing in Henley and is doing A levels in maths and 3 sciences. He would like to go to uni to do physics. Also he follows the AASE program along with dietary and training plans.

5 Potential Issues Dylan – Injures received playing rugby. These involve calve fractures hard tackles. Back issues from collapsed mauls and rough rucks. And had to have a few operations involving screwing bones back together. Oli – Issues involving future, wants to do physics and feels he cant choose both so he wants to pursue his career academically rather than sport.

6 Areas of Interest Dylan – childhood in sport, that he grew up playing county tennis, football and squash. Also his biggest achievements, being going to Georgia and playing their national side. Oli – His path into rowing, how they came to his school and tested him out to see if he could get a place. Also his biggest achievements, being rowing at Henley regatta.

7 Interest Surrounding Topic Dylan – training AASE, that he trains everyday, basic rugby training, gym workouts, 20 hours of training a week and difficulty varies. Plus his diet being mainly protein and carbohydrates. Oli – training AASE, trains everyday, mainly gym and a light exercise on the river. Has to consume 7000 calories a day to produce the muscle to row.

8 Interviewee’s Background Dylan – plays rugby for London Wasps academy, would like to pursue a future in the sport. Oli – Rows for Leander, is more interested in getting a top university degree rather than rowing, sees it as a hobby.
