11 Federal Aviation Administration 11 FAA Order 8900.1 and FAA Order 8900.2 January 21, 2009 INSPECTORS HANDBOOK 8900.1 North Florida FSDO Examiner PIC Renewal Currency Requirements Examiner is responsible for maintaining all 12 and 24 month PIC currency requirements and shall not conduct a practical test in any aircraft listed on the examiner’s letter of authorization within which a renewal flight check has not been accomplished within the prescribed 12 or 24 calendar month time period, as applicable. Requests for “one time” aircraft testing authorizations must be submitted to Larry Enlow via email at larry.enlow@faa.gov

12 Federal Aviation Administration 12 FAA Order 8900.1 and FAA Order 8900.2 January 21, 2009 NEW DESIGNEE HANDBOOK 8900.2 Number of Practical Tests in one day An examiner must not conduct more than two practical tests within any 24 hour period for the original issuance of a Private, Commercial, ATP, or Flight Instructor Certificate, or an Instrument Rating. A practical test means a certificate action that is completed by means of an 8060-4, 8060-5, or letter of discontinuance.

13 Federal Aviation Administration 13 FAA Order 8900.1 and FAA Order 8900.2 January 21, 2009 INSPECTOR’S HANDBOOK 8900.1 Files Returned To Examiner For Correction Errors in examiner’s certification files that cause more than 10% of the total files submitted within a 12 calendar month period to be returned to the examiner for correction shall be considered excessive. An excessive number of returned certification files may be considered as unsatisfactory performance of examiner duties, possibly resulting in termination of the examiner’s designation.
