2 Who are these people? What are their names? John Lennon Ringo Starr Paul McCartney George Harrison

3 Many people believe The Beatles are still the greatest English band in the world. They were together from 1957 to 1970. They influenced society in many ways: Fashion, music & youth culture.

4 Young people imitated The Beatles´: Clothes (For example Nerhu jackets) Long hair Boots

5 Many people were also influenced by their lifestyle and their philosophy peace freedom and love sexual liberation drug culture

6 First music period: “Twist and Shout” (1963)

7 1967: Times have changed Five years later, music & fashion are completely different: The Hippy movement has come!!!

8 Psychedelic period: “Within You Without You” (1967)

9 WHY DID THINGS CHANGE SO MUCH IN 5 YEARS????

10 There were many reasons: Vietnam war: people questioned the Government’s actions Martin Luther King against racism: people wanted civil rights Women wanted equal rights

11 And……………. The Hippy movement (in the picture, Jimmy Hendrix at Woodstock, 1969)
