2 Age 77 Attended University of Redlands and USC American Photographer who has focused on the changing landscape of the American West His work looks at the intersection of humans and nature He seeks to show the ironic destruction of the frontier

3 Died in 1984 American Photographer and Environmentalist His black and white landscape photographs of the American West have been widely reproduced on calendars, posters and in books His work shows the grandeur and majesty of untouched nature

10 1. Find a photo, by one of the Adams boys, that you feel strongly about 2. Write a complete 4 step critique about this photo in your notebook 3. Post the photo to your Weebly blog with the critique Robert Adams photo: Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, 1969

11 1. Pick one of the Adams boys to make a Prezi about 2. Choose five images, by either Ansel or Robert, that you feel strongly about 3. Make a Prezi that shows each image 4. For Each image…  Write an explanation of how it expresses the photographer’s feelings about preserving the environment 5. Each explanation must be unique to each photo Ansel Adams The Tetons and the Snake River (1942) Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.

12 1. Choose one Adams to be like and write his name as the title of a notebook page 2. Brainstorm half a page of possible places you could go to take photos like him 3. Write a half page proposal for a 25 photo shoot. Please include…  Where you will be going  What you plan to take pictures of (specifically)  How you final images will convey a message of conservation in the same way that your chosen artist does. 4. Take at least 25 photos at your proposed location 5. Choose the five best ones 6. Make a presentation that will show this work to potential clients including an artist statement For this project you will be asked to emulate one of the Adams boys

13  Google the Natural Environment of the site at which you plan to take your pictures  Ex.” Natural Environment of Forest Falls California”  Find 5 websites that say something interesting about the natural life of this area.  Write down the URL of all 5 websites  Write a summary of what you learned from the website  This research will be useful to you when taking your pictures and writing your artist statement P.S. If you are having a hard time, try using different key words such as ecology, landscape, or environment. It is also ok to use a picture URL as a reference for a picture you would like to take.
