5. Guion Bluford Guion Bluford is the first African American to go to space. He first launched into space Aug 30 1983 at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.This was the third flight for the Orbiter Challenger and the first mission with a night launch and a night land.

6. Daisy Bates Daisy bates is best known for her involvement in the struggle to integrate central high school in little rock Arkansas. In 1914-1999 she served as a president of Arkansas state conference,Nati onal Ass. For the advancement of colored people from 1952 to 1959.

7. Nathaniel Clifton Nathaniel “Sweetwater” Clifton was an American multi sport athlete best known as the first African American to sign a contract to play in the National Basketball League. Clifton’s Contributions to his community during his sporting career and after his playing days have been recognized Associated Black Charities of New York City they have Honored him by naming the “Black History Awards” “The National Sweetwater Clifton Award”
