During meetings with donors, agencies and corporate partners you identified what you needed from us: o Better communications o Improved customer service o More recognition of donors Our goal – to meet your expectations

5 TitleJanuary 18, 2016 5 Today’s United Way Here’s how we plan to accomplish this through the 3V approach o Viability  Our organization will remain viable with the right people, in the right places, doing the right thing o Visibility  We will become more visible in the community with our donors, our agencies, and our recipients o Value  We will continue to add more value as an organization in the Mid- South region

6 TitleJanuary 18, 2016 6 Today’s United Way United Way is in a unique position unlike any other organization We sit in the intersection between government, business, nonprofit agencies, community and faith based organizations Uniting everyone to work together on the important issues in the Mid-South Faith

7 TitleJanuary 18, 2016 7 Today’s United Way Although a part of many programs and efforts, the UWMS has 3 primary focus areas: o Education o Income o Health With priorities in each area

8 TitleJanuary 18, 2016 8 Today’s United Way Education o Kindergarten Readiness  Increasing parental involvement in day care and early education o Third Grade Reading  The grade that is essential for reading; child learns to move from “learning to read” to “reading to learn” o College / Career  Prepping high school students for next step

9 TitleJanuary 18, 2016 9 Today’s United Way Income o Family Sustaining Employment o Free tax preparation  2015 tax year, brought in $55 million in refunds to this community o This will be a primary focus for UWMS moving forward
