3 Aims of the module To develop: a critical understanding of the concept of interdependence at a variety of levels including personal, local and global aspects a critical understanding of the environmental, social, cultural, economic and political factors which are involved in maintaining and altering balances of interdependence. ability to critically analyse sources of information on these issues; ability to make connections between ESDGC themes understanding of a variety of methods and strategies for teaching and learning about interdependence at a variety of ages and abilities; ability to trial, evaluate and adapt strategies for teaching and learning about interdependence at a variety of ages and abilities.

4 Assignments Two of the following: An essay of approximately 2,000 words. A critical analysis and evaluation of the ways in which one acquires understanding of interdependence and the ways in which these can be used in an educational setting or curriculum A critical evaluation of a teaching and learning strategy for learning about interdependence, or a comparison of two methodologies, trialled in an appropriate educational setting (2000 words approximately) A critical account of a curriculum planning exercise to incorporate learning about interdependence (2500 words approximately)
