1 1/9/15 Starter: What affect do mutations have on proteins? 1/9/15 129 130 Mutations Poster Practice/Application/Connection/ Exit: 3. Use your chromosome example to illustrate ONE of the following on your large poster board: a. Inversion b. Deletion c. Translocation 4. For each of the above mutations, write a short 2–3- sentence summary under your illustration describing the mutation and its significance. 5. Make your poster neat, and consider using a variety of colors to help illustrate the mutations. Mutations Poster Practice/Application/Connection/ Exit: Illustrating Mutations PI Objective: Use a given DNA sequence to illustrate and describe mutations, as well as their significance. Procedure: 1. Obtain a DNA sequence and chromosome example from your teacher. 2. Use your DNA sequence to illustrate the following on a large poster board: a. Frame shift mutations: deletion, insertion b. Point mutation: substitution c. Inversion mutation
