2. Ice hockey  The Czech national team is one of the top teams in the world, regularly competing in the World Championship, the Winter Olympic Games and the Euro Hockey Tour.  The national team captured their first Olympic Gold at the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano.  Prominent Czech players include Jaromír Jágr, Patrik Eliáš or Tomáš Plekanec.

3. Extraliga  The Czech Extraliga is the highest-level ice hockey league in the Czech Republic. It was created by the 1993 split of the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League following the breakup of Czechoslovakia.  In 2008 the IIHF ranked the Extraliga as the third-highest ice hockey league in Europe. Many Extraliga players leave every year on transfers to the North AmericanNHL and the KHL.

4. KHL  The newly found team HC Lev Praha plays in Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) league since 2012–13 season.  The team qualified for the playoffs, but endend after its loss with HC CSKA Moscow.

8. Jaromír Jágr  is a Czech professional ice hockey right winger currently playing for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League.  He formerly played with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals or the Penguins and the Rangers.  After leaving the Rangers, he played for three seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League with Avangard Omsk before returning to the NHL with the Flyers.  He is the most productive European-born player who ever played in the National Hockey League and he is considered one of the greatest players of all-time.

9. Dominik Hašek  is a retired Czech ice hockey goaltender.  In his 16-season National Hockey League (NHL) career, he played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings and theOttawa Senators.  During his years in Buffalo, he became one of the league's finest goaltenders, earning him the nickname "The Dominator".  His strong play has been credited with establishing European goaltenders in a league previously dominated by North Americans.

Vladimír Růžička  Vladimír "Rosey" Růžička is a Czech ice hockey coach and former professional ice hockey player.  Růžička was twice named the top player in the Czechoslovak Elite League, and was on the gold medal team in the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1985 and 1998 Olympic Games.  He also played 233 games in the National Hockey League (NHL).  Since 2008, Růžička has been the head coach of both HC Slavia Praha and the Czech national ice hockey team.
