1 Session 14 & 15 Lab Exercises

2 Assessing and working with data in the model – Instructor’s presentation What are the top five areas of focus for applying energy efficiency strategies, in either new and retrofit projects?(with respect to quantity of energy saved and wide-spread applicability, assuming energy code baseline) – Wall and roof insulation – Improved windows – U-value and solar heat gain coefficient – Daylighting and lighting reduction controls – Efficient lighting – Ventilation energy recovery – Efficient HVAC – various

3 Lab Continued What are some major synergies between systems? – Wall and roof insulation and heating and cooling – Window U-value and heating and cooling – Window solar heat gain and heating and cooling – Lighting heat and cooling – Windows and lighting power and lighting heat and heating and cooling (daylighting) – Ventilation requirements and fan power and heating and cooling – More Lab activities as needed

4 Completing The Modeling Students polish their individual models and then meet as a group to strategize on potential efficiency measures. The instructor should structure the schedule to accommodate this. Complete entering any additional model data including HVAC and other energy using equipment
