All East Asians or Oriental Asians are often classified as Chinese. In actuality, they include people whose ancestry is rooted in Cambodia, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

Known as the “Model Minority”. One of the fastest growing demographic segments in North America. Usually, the Asian population is affluent and well-educated. Still, only 8.4% of television commercials today feature Asian people.

Historically, Asians were sometimes portrayed by Caucasians in “yellow face” makeup. They also had the stereotypical characteristics of slanty eyes and broken English. Warner Oland
