6 The Beatles  John Lennon was born in Liverpool in 1940. He was not a good student and his report book was full of angry comments by his teachers.

7 The Beatles  In 1956 John met Paul McCartney, who joined his group “The Quarry Men”. The two began to compose song together and gave their first professional concerts in Hamburg.

8 The Beatles  When the Beatles went back to Liverpool they met a manager, Brian Epstein, who gave them a new “clean” image.

9 The Beatles  It was a small record company “Parlophone”, which released “Love Me Do”, a Lennon-McCartney composition.

10 The Beatles  When the media focused on the new group, it soon became obvious that the Beatles are not like the other pop stars. Their answers were intelligent and witty.

11 The Beatles  The Beatles had changed pop music forever.  Their songs seemed to be more musical.  The Beatles also looked nicer than anyone else.

12 Beatlemania  A hysteria that the newspapers called “Beatlemania” swept Britain and soon America.

13 The Beatles  The Beatles grew beards and long hair. Their music became more “psychedelic”.

14 The Beatles  In 1966 John met Japanese artist Yoko Ono. He found he loved her views on art and admired her independence. They married in 1969.

15 The Beatles In 1971 the Beatles was split up.

16 After split up  John Lennon was shot and killed by one of the fans on December 8 th 1980.  The most successful in career was Paul McCartney who is still having concerts. He is one of the richest musicians in the world.  Starr and Harrison were not lucky in their solo career.

32 Yesterday  Yesterday,  All my troubles seemed so far away.  Now it looks as though they’re here to stay.  Oh, I believe in yesterday.  Suddenly,  I’m not half the man I used to be.  There’s a shadow hanging over me.  Oh, yesterday came suddenly.  Why she had to go  I don’t know  She wouldn’t say.  I said something wrong  Now I long for yesterday.  Yesterday,  Love was such an easy game to play.  Now I need a place to hide away,  Oh, I believe in yesterday
