A Storm’s Story (So far…) The Sun warms the Earth through radiation. The Earth’s surface warms unevenly. Different types of air masses are created over different surface temperatures. Wind is created when warm air rises and cool air rushes in to take its place

A Storm’s Story (So far…) Higher pressure = clearer weather Lower pressure = stormier weather Storms occur along fronts A front is where air masses meet Warmer air rising creates lower pressure Cooler air falling creates higher pressure Cooler Air Mass Warmer Air Mass Front

A Storm’s Story (the end….kinda) Clouds form when water condenses in the troposphere. Cloud type depends temperature, pressure and humidity As elevation rises in the troposphere, temperature drops, air thins, pressure is lowered. The water cycle continuously moves water through the ocean, land, atmosphere and living things A storm ends when it runs out of energy, and precipitation or moves on
