In 2008-09 only 56% (of 1323) NEW High School students completed Matriculation steps of Orien, Assessment, Counseling In 2010-11, 83% (of 863) NEW High School students completed High School Orientation In 2010-11, 89% of the above 83% SHOW to HS Orientation, did SHOW to their Counseling appointments Excluded 2009-10 due to “year in transition” for HS Orientation

5 CTE Information Sessions (Orien) CTE Orien attendance/show counts remained fairly constant as compared to 2009-10 A key impact on SHOW to the Info Session was whether or not the Class Schedule was received in US mail of north Orange Co homes in advance of the scheduled CTE Orien dates AA -130ECE – 109PT – 190MA - 213

7 Noncredit to Credit transitions ACCT For 2010-11 we saw increases in attendance for the college tours & in # SCE students completing CCCApply Key ACCT services appear to be: - college tours- CCCApply - “hand-hold” through college Reg process - in HS lab follow up for HS w/ 20 or less credits

8 Barriers for Noncredit Students to transition to Credit Academic knowledge & skills - lack of basic skills preparation results in inability to master new skills - minimal computer skills - minimal study skills College knowledge - online application-college terms - securing financial aid- lack of career awareness - inability to maneuver the college system - 1 st time being independent; no reminder of deadlines, etc. Personal readiness - time mgmt skills- goal setting - lack of confidence - FEAR- child care issues - family & work conflicts / lack of support
