3 Habitat Crocodiles are found in rivers and lakes. Sometimes they swim out to sea.

4 Appearance Both crocodiles and alligators have a long nose, and powerful jaws full of teeth. They have long bodies and tails, which are covered in scales.

5 Prey / Predators Crocodiles eat a large number of different animals. They lie in wait for they prey to pass by, then they attack. They swallow their prey whole, or break it into smaller pieces.

6 Communication Male crocodiles bellow to attract a female and to scare other males.

7 Endangered? Crocodiles are often hunted for their skin. Hunting was controlled in 1970, and since then, numbers have increased.
