As always, be sure to write at least a five sentence paragraph response to each prompt. 10/26/15 Writing Warm-up #1 Based on what you’ve learned in your life so far, what two lessons do you think will be most important to teach your children? Are these two lessons also ones your parents have taught you, or do they come entirely from your own life and experiences?

There is a saying: “Behind every good man is a good woman.” Does this saying hold true today? Is this archaic/old fashioned thinking? Is there “a good man behind every good woman”? *Be sure to write five sentences.

Write about either your favorite Halloween memory or your most miserable Halloween experience. Be sure to write five sentences.

Good luck charms range from stones to coins to horseshoes to plants (like a four-leaf clover) to certain animal parts (like a rabbit’s foot). Some people carry personal objects that they consider lucky, such as a rubber band, picture, or letter. Do you have a good luck charm? Do you consider charms a silly fantasy? Do you know someone who has great faith in his/her good luck charm? *Be sure to write a five sentence paragraph with a focused topic sentence.

Be sure your response is a five sentence paragraph. You may explain what occurred before the photo was taken, what is happening during this photo, or what happens after this moment. Use the photo as an inspiration:

Think of a time when you were separated from someone you loved. How did you handle the feelings that came with the separation? (If you have not been in this position yourself, think of either someone you know or a character in a novel, short story, or movie.) As always, write at least a five sentence paragraph that begins with a topic sentence.

Write a poem describing a friend using only similes. Include both physical characteristics and personality traits. Your poem should be at least eight lines with at least four similes.

Write about a place you’ve studied in your history or social studies class – a place that no longer exists. In you poem, try to make this place come to life by using clear visual details. Your poem will be at least eight lines, and include imagery (details appealing to the senses). UNDERLINE THE IMAGERY. YOU WILL BE TURNING IN THESE WRITING WARM-UPS ON MONDAY. THERE WILL BE NINE RESPONSES IN THIS GROUP OF WARM- UPS.
