Wednesday ‘Technical Area’ Webex meetings, 08-12.2010 6 To be used to prepare for Baseline Workshops – as needed CFS/GBL 04 Aug, 2010 Marc Ross, Fermilab

Preparation for the 1 st BAW July 23: AD&I meeting July 28: SCRF meeting and draft BAW report to be distributed –delayed Aug. 25: SCRF meeting and the final report (prior to the 1 st BAW) to be distributed August 28: AD&I meeting CFS/GBL 04 Aug, 2010Marc Ross, Fermilab7

Baseline Assessment Workshop CFS/GBL 04 Aug, 2010 Marc Ross, Fermilab 8 At the close of each BAW, we would like to write down a summary that is based on our common understanding of the issues. Developed prior to (and at ) the meeting itself A set of questions to be answered –Also serves as a draft outline for the summary document The summary is the ‘Workshop Report’ – –to be submitted as part of ‘Top Level Change Control’

Workshop Report The ‘Baseline Assessment’ is an advocacy process –A problem solving and integration process –We intend to develop a positive recommendation –For BAW 1, this means: Answering in the positive sense review panel (and other) comments on single tunnel / HLRF and gradient Preparation – SLAC 03.08, KEK 25-27.08 CFS/GBL 04 Aug, 2010 Marc Ross, Fermilab 9

2 nd BAW proposal (SLAC) January 18 2011: Reduced RF, focusing on parameters, running scenarios and development plans January 19: Reduced RF focusing on cost and performance projections and potential upgrade paths and summary/recommendation, January 20: Positron Source Location, focusing on running scenarios and technical issues January 21: Positron Source Location, focusing on cost and performance projections and summary/recommendation. 7/23/2010 10 AD & I 23.07 (M. Ross)

Discussion expected at SLAC - BAW 1. Reduced RF Global Parameters Pulse length, n_b, power and cryogenic consumption AS impact – sources, damping rings and BDS Upgrade paths R & D strategies Cost impact – key cost items Performance impact – luminosity performance and impact on physics 2. Positron Source Location Running Scenarios – key aspects and luminosity as a function of energy Technical parameters – operational issues as a function of energy Variable repetition rate issues – power and cryogenic consumption; sources and damping ring performance Cost impact – key cost items Performance impact – luminosity performance and impact on physics 7/23/2010 11 AD & I 23.07 (M. Ross)

TDP-2 R&D Plan Release 5 submitted to EC 04.08; –hope for ~ immediate release Updated R&D Plan for TDP2 reviewed by EC – Paris mid July Please read the CFS and S2 sections carefully R & D Plan appears to be ‘well-read’ CFS/GBL 04 Aug, 2010 12 Marc Ross, Fermilab
