10 What will be different in Key Stage 2?

11  There will be an increased expectation that your child will develop more independence. Organising and having the correct equipment, Handing homework in on the correct day, Changing reading book, Increased responsibilities in class, Working independently at times, Working cooperatively in TASC activities and problem solving. I will help your child to develop this by giving reminders! 

12 What will be different in Key Stage 2?  The children will eat in first sitting (11-45-12.15pm) with the rest of Key Stage 2.  They will play on the Key Stage 2 playground.  They will join the rest of Key Stage 2 for worships on alternating Thursdays.  They will not have an afternoon play from Term 2 onwards.  There is no fruit provided, however feel free to send fruit for playtime to continue this healthy habit.

13 What will be taught?

14  Your child will now begin to work from the ‘New Curriculum’ (2014)

15 What will be taught? The main differences are:  No more levels.  There is less content in some subjects.  Each class will have its own learning objectives- -some for Year 3, -some for Lower Key Stage 2 and -some for Key Stage 2 as a whole.  Children will be taught, develop and master skills and knowledge in greater depth.

18 What will be expected of my child?

19 Homework Homework will be set on a Thursday, it will usually consist of: -A spelling list to learn -Handwriting (each spelling to be written 4x in joined handwriting). -Maths homework -English homework -Reading each night -Times tables to 12 x tables Hand in on a Tuesday.

20 What will be expected of my child? Class job. Each week your child will be given a class job. They will be responsible for this job all week in a team of 2 or 3 children. Jobs range from collecting the register to handing out books to tidying away equipment.
