Community Consolidated School District 62 Des Plaines CCSD 62 Located outside of Chicago near O’Hare Airport Just over 5200 students Pre-K to 8 th grade 12 buildings including 2 middle schools, 8 elementary schools, 1 year round K-8 th school and 1 ELC Demographics: 57% Low Income, 31% Limited English, Largest Second Language is Spanish with 41% Hispanic 9 schoolwide Title I schools (7 elementary, 2 middle)

Decision-Making Balance (DuFour) Tight Expectations Effective districts establish clear parameters and priorities that enable individuals to work within boundaries in a creative and autonomous way. Some procedures and expectations are “tight”, such as what is to be taught, ie. Non- negotiables. Loose Expectations Within the district system, schools, teams and teachers have flexibility in meeting expectations. For example, determining how to teach based on teacher strengths and student needs, thus decisions are “loose.”
