1 Acts from 1650’s to late 1700’s By: Zach Powell

2 Navigation acts: 1650-1700’s Caused the sugar act. Caused currency act. Caused stifling at American manufacturing.

3 Proclamation of 1763: 1763 Pontiac’s rebellion No colonist could settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. More and more colonists complained from all the Brittish soldiers.

4 Currency act: 1764 No gold mines. No silver mines. Currency could only be regulated by Brittin.

5 Stamp act: 1765 Taxed anything of printed paper. Sam Adams began Committees of Correspondence. Groups of colonists gathered other towns to figure out ways to fight the Brittish.

6 Declaratory Act: 1765 Parliament had full power over legislation in the colonies.

7 Quartering Act: 1765 British sent more troops to keep order in the colonies. Some people had to house and feed British soldiers. Colonists were angry about the standing army with blank search warrants.

8 Townsend Acts: 1767 Colonists were to pay taxes on glass, tea, paper, etc. This was all to pay off the debt caused by the quartering act. Colonists decided to boycott British goods.

9 Boston Massacre: 1770 Tension rose from all of the angry colonists on the British. On March 5, 1770, a mob broke loose in Boston, and as more soldiers arrived, shots were eventually fired. Sam Adams used this to share news with other towns.

10 Tea Act: 1773 Boston was the only legal company to sell tea. Prices went down yet colonists were still mad that they had to pay taxes. Colonists refused to unload, sell, or buy tea from British.

11 Coercive acts: After the Boston tea party, this was an effort to make colonists pay for all of the tea. It stopped all trade between British and Boston. This eventually stirred colonial spirit throughout the colonies.
