Perfect Paragraph O At least 5 sentences O Must have a topic sentence O Must have a clear conclusion or clincher sentence O Use those middle sentences as evidence and support

Summary O 5-7 sentences O Cover main ideas O Clear topic sentence O No opinions! Just the facts. O Not first person!

Summary: Topic Sentence O Topic Sentence = Central Idea O Include the title and the author! O “Short Stories” “News Articles” O Novels or Novels O It should cover all of the main ideas. O It should be a complete sentence.

Summary: How To O After Reading O Review Annotations O Create AT LEAST four solid main idea sentences about the text. O Review those main ideas and create a topic sentence that covers ALL of them. O Create a concluding sentence that wraps up the summary. (You do not need to restate title and author)
