Blessings vs. Divine discipline related to applying wisdom in business. Pt. 2

Prov 11:15 Do not co-sign a loan for those outside your family, so that you will continue to provide for yourself and your family.

Prov 11:16 Be gracious in all your business dealings and you will have a good reputation.

Prov 11:17 Treat others with grace and impersonal love in your business dealings and you will receive the same from others.

Prov 11:18

“Earning” vs. “Sowing” reflects the difference between self-centered impatience of human good and diligent pursuit of righteousness waiting upon the Lord, cf. Psa 37.

The benefit the righteous receives is a “true reward”, EMETH, אֱמֶת, SEKHER, שֶׂכֶר, meaning there will be a harvest for the seed that you sowed.

Do your job unto the Lord with peace and contentment, knowing He is a rewarder of righteousness.

Prov 11:19

Prov 11:19 The believer is called to persistently operate with righteousness in his business transactions that leads to a life fulfilled.

The Contrast!

The Contrast! The wicked believer is constantly looking for ways to cheat and steal in business, pursuing worldly riches that they believe will benefit them.

But in reality their efforts will bring about the third stage of Divine discipline, the Sin Unto Death, 1 Cor 11:30.

Therefore, keep Faith-Resting in the Lord in all your business transactions regardless of what the world may otherwise tell you and you will be blessed in time and eternity.

Prov 11:20

Prov 11:20 God’s viewpoint of the contrasting believers, (wicked vs. righteous).

“Perverse” - IQQESH, עִקֵּשׁ, “Determined to behave in an unreasonable way, especially by doing the opposite of what is expected or wanted.”

This is the reversionistic believer set against God and His Word, and the community at large, and instead serves only himself.

This perverse mental attitude in business is something that God hates because it is extremely offensive, unpleasant, and wrong compared to the holiness of God.

The Contrast!

The Contrast! “Blameless” / without fault, is one who is wholly committed to God’s way and plan for his life, including being committed to the greater community.

“Walking” consistently experientially sanctification, they are a “delight”, (RATSON, רָצוֹן - “pleasing”), to the Lord! Prov 8:35; 10:32; 11:1

Prov 8:35, “For he who finds me finds life and obtains favor (RATSON) from the LORD.”

Prov 10:32, “The lips of the righteous bring forth what is acceptable (RATSON).”

Prov 11:1, “But a just weight is His delight.”

The heart is the source of moral conduct when it is filled with God’s Word. Otherwise, the sin nature rules your soul and leads to all kinds of evil behavior.

Conduct your business dealings with God’s righteousness and you will be His delight, (i.e., pleasing to Him).

Prov 11:21

Prov 11:21 Contrasts the outcome of the choices made by the deceitful and the honest.

Prov 16:5, “Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; assuredly, he will not be unpunished.”

This punishment has down stream effect on their descendents, who will suffer as a result of their discipline.

The Contrast!

The Contrast! Blessing by association to the “descendants”, (ZERA, זֶרַע, “seed or descendent”), “of the righteous”, (TSADDIQ).

Their blessing is that they will be “delivered”, MALAT, מָלַט, “to escape, to flee or to be delivered”, from Divine discipline.

This calls for a transformation of the right lobe of your soul (heart) to correspond with God’s ways and means, because you must be sincere in your heart and constant in your way; no in- between ground is granted.

Operate in the righteousness of God in all your business transactions, so that you and your descendants will be blessed.
